Whitchurch C v Swansea City - Match Report 10th October 15'

Result: Whitchurch C 1-3 Swansea City A

Playing against a strong and skilful Swansea City A team, Whitchurch C looked comfortable with three new players slotting into the team without any problems. Soaking up the Swansea pressure that was coming their way, the team stayed calm and held their own. When the defence was breached on the rare occasion Ieuan Bartlett came to the rescue with some outstanding saves, with the post helping him too!

Swansea pinched a goal half way through the first half with a quick counter attack that caught Whitchurch out of position and left the defence vulnerable. We regrouped and didn't drop our heads after their goal and came back with some good pressure of our own. As a result we got a well worked goal. With some good play down the right hand side, the ball arrived at Louis who put a lovely reverse stick cross to the back post where Rhys was standing (as he always is) who knocked the ball out of the air, into the back of the net. Making the the score 1 - 1 at half time.

Unfortunately we had a slow start to the second half and conceded two quick goals within the first 5 minutes of the restart. This proved to be too much for us to come back from, despite some good movement of the ball and well worked attacks, the Swansea defence held firm.

Although we were beaten 3 - 1, we know we played against a team that will be challenging for the title at the end of the season and have taken the positives from the way we played.
