Whitchurch E v Swansea F - 20th October 2018

Travelled to Swansea with the bare 11, mainly vets with 3 under 15’s. We went 2-0 down in the first 5 minutes against a good, well drilled Swansea team (formerly the university team) full of 18-22 year olds. Came back to 2-2 through goals from Mat Rapson and Mark Lewis, before Karl Davis gave us the lead with 10 minutes left in the first half. Mat Rapson then scored his second of the day, before Captain Dave Gray scored the decisive fifth goal, a wonderful finish from a narrow angle, which effectively put paid to Swansea’s chances. Phil Graham scrambled the ball over the line in the final action of a pulsating first half to make the score 6-2.

Two more goals followed in the second half – Mat Rapson completing his hatrick drag flicking one into the top corner, before Karl Davis added to his goal in the first half to take his tally to two. Whitchurch won 8-2 against a Swansea side who were unbeaten sitting at the top of the league.

Final Score: 8-2
