The boys were looking to get back on track against local opposition on Sunday.
Cardiff have had the better of games and results over the last couple of seasons, so it was important Whitchurch made their intentions clear and came away with a decent performance as well as a result.
Injuries to Iwan Williams and newcomer Cosker brought about an enforced reshuffle.
There was some good hockey from Whitchurch and the new players slotted well into the side. New signings Jonny Gordon and Kyle Stubley making their debuts. Whitchurch dominated much of the game and took 3 goal lead into half time. In the second half both sets of players took it a little easier knowing that there is a second game looming. Whitchurch conceded a sloppy goal and then quickly responed with a fourth to put the game beyond doubt.
The goals were scored by Jon Collis from two penalty corners and open play goals from Joe Naughalty and Dougie.
The game plan was executed well and the players deserve credit for that, though fitness is an issue that still needs to be worked on.
