Whitchurch B 2-2 Bath Buccs C

After a great start to the season Whitchurch B where looking to continue their push for promotion. The game beganin a very cagey fashion, with both teams testing out the goal keepers early on.

It wasn't until mid-way through the first half that the first real chance in the match came. Bath made a quick counter attack, creating a 3 on 1 with the last defender, leaving young Adam Stone with no choice but to make a professional foul. The resulting penalty flick was dispatched by the Bath centre forward.

Whitchurch did not let their heads drop, after conceding their first goal of the season; they went the attack, creating several guilt edged chances, which somehow managed to avoid the back of the Bath net. This wasn't to last for much longer, as just before the end of the first half Whitchurch drove forward down the right, and with some intricate inter-play the ball found the un-marked, and stand in captain for the day, Rhodri Ryland to flick high and left past the despairing keeper.

The pattern of the game changed; Bath where pinned back for the beginning of the second half. The lack of pressure conversion led to the build up of frustration for the boys in blue, and one too many words to the umpires saw the unlucky Adam Stone receive his first yellow of the season. Despite this Whitchurch used their greater levels of fitness and not only plugged the gaps around the pitch, but with some quick thinking from the defenders, a quick free hit resulted in a one - two move between Craig Nevard and Rhodri Ryland that saw the Bath defence dissected and Craig Nevard rounding the keeper into an empty net.

Whitchurch were restored to their full 11, and despite their resilience, Bath to their credit, threw everything they could at the home side. With 7 minutes remaining, a bad pass saw the blues on the defensive, and Bath pounced to equalise.

The game was end to end for the remaining moments, but a draw is how it finished, and was a fair result.
