Whitchurch v Uni. of Birmingham Match Report (15th November 2014)

5-0 Loss

Whitchurch travelled to Birmingham to take on the University side who were sitting in fourth place in the table.
The game started brightly with both sides having their share of chances and in the seventh minute the University opened their account from a short corner. Buoyed by this the University found their stride and dominated the rest of the first half, adding 2 more well taken goals, 1 from some good interplay in the D and another from a set piece short corner.
Whitchurch changed their approach in the second half and played far more aggressively. The difference was clear to see as they dominated for large patches despite being unable to find the killer finish on goal.
With Whitchurch pressing on, they left spaces and the University were happy to sit and attack on the break. One such break resulted in a short corner which was converted for the University's fourth of the game.
Four late Whitchurch short corners crept agonisingly wide as the visitors gave everything in search for a consolation goal, unfortunately to no avail.
The university put the cherry on the cake in the last few minutes with the goal of the game, a very well worked passing move resulting in an excellent finish at the back post.
The result leaves Whitchurch at the foot of the table facing Cardiff & Met next weekend.
