Whitchurch As vs Yate - Match Report 17th October 15'

Result: Whitchurch 3 - 0 Yate

Whitchurch A had a bare 11 and ventured to Yate, returning with a fantastic 3-0 win.

With a solid performance all around especially MOTM Matt Goldsmith, who dribbles more than a baby, and also Ollie Hunt who had a solid session as right back.

First goal came towards the end of the first half with a great counter attack from a defensive short from Adam Stoney who played the ball into the opposition 22, a couple of nifty passes and the ball was neatly slotted in for Rhods 1st goal.

HALFTIME

In high spirits the team knew they had it under wraps, even after several defensive shorts which the defence handled easily enough.

Cards were being dished out and after an ice hockey style bodycheck captain Rhodri Ryland was given a green which was shortly followed by a yellow for ‘trying to trip someone up’.
A couple of chances for each side including a 3 on 1 where an absolute sitter was missed by the second Goldsmith, Edward, which resulted with nothing until Whitchurch's second goal which started with a 16. The ball was passed back to keeper Adam Broomfield who flicked it up and punted it rugby style up the field, mistrapped by a Yate player, the bobbling ball was picked up by Rhodri and neatly lifted over the Yate keeper for his second of the match.

The third and final goal came with 6 minutes left to play. A rebound off the keeper, which was picked up at the top of the D and creamed into the bottom right hand corner by none other than Osian Hughes.

MOTM - Matt Goldsmith

DOTD- Osian Hughes (who took it upon himself to navigate to the nearest McDonalds in Bristol, only to set the sat nav to MacDonald Lane which was in the middle of a housing estate!).

Scorers Goals - Rhodri Ryland (24,52) & Osian Hughes (64)
