Whitchurch As vs West Wilts - Match Report 10th October 15'

Result: Whitchurch 2 - 5 West Wilts

After an empathic win last week, Whitchurch were full of confidence and in high hopes for the game.

The game started brightly with both teams playing happy to sit back and test the waters before diving in. Some neat interplay from Luke Miller and Rhodri Ryland led to a short corner which man of the match Gregor McCain dispatched low and hard through the keepers pads. It was an impressive and powerful flick from a talented young flicker once again showing he can contribute  both offensively and defensively.

The lead was not held long as the Wiltshire forward somehow picked and incredible pass from Rory Gorman and rounded Adam Broomfield with ease to score. This seemed to open the floodgates as Wiltshire scored 3 goals from sloppy Whitchurch play to make it 4-1 at the break.

After the break Whitchurch steadied the ship and continued to press for a way back into the game, step forward captain Rhodri Ryland who terrorised the Wiltshire defence all day and signed off nicely with a lovely taken goal. Whitchurch continue to press with Ted Diment and Rhys Thomas showing that age is no barrier giving an energetic performance in midfield. Unfortunately they were let down by there teammates who failed to show the same enthusiasm.

Despite scoring one more goal on the counter attack Wiltshire gave away numerous corners and attacking opportunities for Whitchurch who just could seem to beat an on form goalkeeper, who at one point kept out four shots with some excellent reflexes.

Despite the loss a positive display at points from the home team who seemed a bit shell shocked by Wiltshire's gung ho attitude in the first half.

MOTM Gregor McCain (with a few others pushing for it)
