WHC SAINTS COACH ANNOUNCEMENT:
Whitchurch Hockey Club are pleased to announce that Nick Fackrell has joined the club, from the start of the 2017/2018 season, as the Saints Head Coach.
He will work in conjunction with the club’s assistant coaches and with each squad to offer a focused and team-specific approach.
Nick’s hockey career started as a player for Bridgwater Hockey Club. He then moved onto play and coach at university. It wasn't until he moved to Wales in 2009 that he began to take coaching more seriously and has gained experienced coaching Abergavenny Men's and Ladies teams, coaching junior athletes within the 360 programme, and supporting Wales as assistant coach and manager at the UK School Games.
Nick now focuses solely on coaching, having retired from playing last year. He has completed his UKCC coaching certificates (Level 1 and 2) and with the support of Hockey Wales he will soon be attending the GB Hockey Advanced Coaching programme (detailed as being beyond UKCC Level 3 standard).
He has experienced EuroHockey tournaments and was involved with the successful Cardiff University Ladies squad in last season’s European Hockey Club Championships in Gibraltar. More recently, he was recruited to lead the recent Welsh University Ladies representative squad in the BUCS Home Nations Tournament in Edinburgh where Wales beat Scotland and narrowly lost to England.
He is looking forward to a fresh and exciting challenge with Whitchurch Hockey Club and the opportunity to meet and work with the players and coaches in such a fast developing and inspiring club. He hopes to meet everyone involved over the next few weeks and wishes the Ladies squad the best of luck for their preparations for this season’s European Club Championships in June.
Should anyone have any feedback on this year’s coaching please contact Cat Fenton – WHC Vice Chair via email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
