Whitchurch A vs Cardiff & Met C – 4th November 2017
Whitchurch A {1 – 0} Cardiff & Met C
Whitchurch 2's faced a Cardiff and Met side who were understandably low on confidence following the news that Ollie Hunt wouldn't be playing due to injury. Prior to the game, there had been rumours that Cousty Snr had purposely injured Ollie in an attempt to keep him out of the back four. The game was a tight affair with few chances from either side. Typically, Hass provided the midfield spark to create a number of chances as the half went on. His blend of being relatively decent at hockey and never ever passing the ball was too much for the Cardiff and Met defence to handle. Perhaps the best opportunity arrived when a well-timed aerial from Hass found an unmarked Josh at the edge of the D. Unfortunately for Whitchurch, he couldn't capitalise. Following this opportunity, a number of chances were created and subsequently wasted by the away side. In spite of the wasted chances, Cardiff and Met did little to trouble the Whitchurch goal thanks to the mobility of Gregor and Adam 'The Pace' Place. Finally, the breakthrough came as a Gregor drag flick (ish) found its way into the Cardiff net.
The second half continued with the same vigour and determination as the first. The back two of Ron and Voldermort (also known as Dan and Placey) looked particularly solid. The constant harrying from Ted, Ben and Bertie meant that Cardiff conceded possession on a number of occassions. Following a string of missed golf-esque wind-ups from both Rhys and Ted, the best opportunity of the second half fell to Pinnie. After a long ranged pass from the Yorkshire Pirlo, the young winger managed to put the chance wide - shame. Despite a number of further missed chances, Whitchurch battled to a 1-0 victory over their local rivals. Bertie was awarded MOTM for a battling display.
